The Mosquitoes Philosophy
Taking a Impromptu First Approach.
Recently, I went back to my home in Sangli after a long time, as expected, there was a lot of dust and quite a lot of mosquitoes. My place has this open area behind where usually there’s a lot of dirty run off water. This is a breading ground for a ton of mosquitoes. We are usually home most of the times, however, this time we were out for more than a month.
In a month, a mosquito family might have had around 6 generations. As evaluation dictates, there might be some suggestions that the older mosquitoes give the younger ones on “how to increase the chances of survival”. They might have suggested several techniques; like how to avoid getting squashed by a human being, or what is the right time to suck blood from a human leg. All these suggestions come from generations of experiences. So, these suggestions are followed as rules that no mosquito questions.
In this mosquito Society, there might be a few mosquitoes that listen obediently to the elder mosquitoes and follow all the rules. There might also be a few mavericks, a few bohemians that just did what they felt like doing. and disregarded the rules. These mosquitoes typically had shorter life span, It must have been frowned upon to like them. No one wants to die early and that too just for trying to be something unique. Or sometimes, just for trying to be themselves.
However, All of those lessons go in vain, and there is no human intervention, most of the rules don’t apply anymore. These bohemian mosquitoes have lived much freer and a bit longer. Now that they have proved something that has stood true for generations to be wrong, they start making fun of the “traditional ways of doing things” and how they are out dated. They become the norm, this bohemian way of living has become the default way of living- because the last 6 generations have “proved this is a better way a living”.
However, once I and my family move back into our house, the mosquito survival rate might plummet again -because these new mosquitoes don’t have any framework to follow to avoid getting killed. The mosquitoes that postulated the conservative way of existing is long gone now.
There might now be a few mosquitoes that start claiming that they have found a “right way live, the way our ancestors used to live!”.
The point is, we being in the house is a random variable with respect to the mosquitoes. They can’t control it, neither can they ignore it. So most of the ideas apply to either of the conditions (either with human intervention or not). But the mosquitoes can’t control this variable so subscribing to one mentality is impossible.
One thing that remains constant in both of these conditions is the conclusions drawn by a Reasoning Mind- The Gut Feeling. The impromptu reaction to the situation considering the variables around. That’s what will make anyone take an conscious decision.
From the engineering part of my brain: it’s like using a library without knowing how the library works. More often than not you are going to run into a problem which you cannot solve without understanding the library first.
It sounds stupid looking at mosquitoes having philosophy for their life and have ton of mosquitoes that subscribe to these philosophies and ideas. Stupid, given 5 day life span of the mosquitoes and the fact that they can control so little what happens to them. However, that’s exactly what humans do. The duration of a human life similar to the life span of a mosquito with respect to, say, the life span of a Star.
